How2 Calculate Paracetamol Dosage for Children

It is very important you administer the correct dosage for infants and children for any medication. Correct dose should be given every 4 to 6 hours as required with not more than 4 doses in 24 hours.

Paracetamol liquid for children is available in two strengths :
120mg/5mls and 250mg/5mls. See the prescription or medication label for confirmation. To avoid the danger of accidental overdose - which can be serious in children - it is advisable to use lower dose of Paracetamol 120 mg/5mls.

Formula
If you want to calculate the correct dosage for your child's weight, use this formula:

(15 x child's weight) / 120 x 5 (for 120mg/5ml strength Paracetamol) .. OR

(15 x child's weight) / 250 x 5 (for 250mg/5ml strength Paracetamol)
